The NBA Matchup Card

When you open an NBA game on CappaData, you'll see:

• Confidence Score & Tier: A 0–100 score with a High/Mid/Low label.

• Likely Finish: Our model's projection on how the game is likely to play out.

Key NBA Metrics Explained

Game Pace

We classify each matchup by expected pace — Fast, Moderate, or Slow. This is derived from each team's possessions per game and tempo rankings.

Competitive Balance

This grade reflects how evenly matched the two teams are. A "Tight" balance grade means expect a close game; "Lopsided" suggests a clear favorite.

Market Conviction

How strongly the market (odds) favors one side. High conviction means the odds are heavily skewed; low conviction means the market sees it as a toss-up.

Grades Breakdown

Each matchup card includes grades for:

• Shooting: Offensive efficiency and scoring ability.

• Defense: Defensive rating and opponent field goal suppression.
